Though they both survived the tragical massacre, they were left alone without steering or an elder, in a country that was not just united.         Ned, now well educated, returns to the plantation where Jane lives. He sets up a school to teach the children the beliefs of booking agent T. Washington and Frederick Douglas. in a flash the white folks become comical and distraught. They order Albert Cluveau to slay Ned. Things get complicated, because Janes relation to Albert is one of a friend. They spend metre together fishing and talking.
